History of these photographs
The majority of these photos were taken in the photo albums of the
former Afghan royal families, or in old books printed in Afghanistan.
These old photographs were tracked by the Communists, wanting to
erase the traces of the royalty after the coup d'etat of 1978. After the
arrival of the Taliban, much of these documents were torn or
burned.
Most of the pictures of this personal collection was hidden in Kabul,
in the district of Shar-i Naw. Another part left Afghanistan at the
beginning of the soviet invasion.
