These photographs come from the collection Yadgar-i Afghanistan
Kabol Jalalabad Paghman Laghman Qandahar. This cultural
project was launched, at the beginning of the XXth Century, by the
reforming king Amanullah Khan, wishing to make known its country
out of its borders, that explains the presence of legends in French.
Under the direction of the intellectual Mahmud Tarzi, the most
beautiful pictures of the country, carried out by Afghan
photographers during the period 1900s-1920s, were compiled in
various books.
